Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Clarkson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrei Kozlov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andrei Kozlov will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ryan Clarkson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andrei Kozlov!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Damien Edna and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clarkson moves out of range of the body kick from Kozlov.
Kozlov closes the distance but Clarkson moves to the side

and Clarkson counters with a shoot takedown. Kozlov fights it but they end up in guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Clarkson controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Kozlov escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Clarkson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Clarkson looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Kozlov working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Clarkson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Clarkson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Clarkson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Clarkson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Kozlov is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Clarkson is aware though and is defending well.
Clarkson looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Clarkson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kozlov on the ground.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Ryan Clarkson just wasn't active enough.
Kozlov pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Clarkson shoots in for a takedown but Kozlov shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Kozlov jumps guard but Clarkson stands there with Kozlov around his waist. Kozlov gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Ryan Clarkson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andrei Kozlov.

and Clarkson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kozlov's guard.
Clarkson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Clarkson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ryan Clarkson wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Kozlov throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Kozlov won't allow Clarkson to pass to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We're going to have a standup here because Ryan Clarkson wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Kozlov moves to clinch but Clarkson breaks away

and Clarkson counters with a takedown into side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Clarkson in particular looking to stall.

Well, if Clarkson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Kozlov is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Clarkson pulls his head out easily.

Kozlov has his foot on Clarkson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Clarkson works his way back into a safe position though.

Clarkson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kozlov for as long as he can get away with.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Clarkson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
