Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pono Reyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akuma Zetto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zetto is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Metallica - All Nightmare Long. Pono Reyes has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Akuma Zetto!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zetto misses with a jab, cross combination.
Reyes tries to clinch up.

Reyes closes the distance and clinches.

Zetto pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Zetto circles away from the clinch attempt
and Zetto counters with a stiff right hand.
Akuma Zetto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A low kick from Reyes is predictable there
and Zetto counters with a stiff right hand.
Zetto throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Reyes moves out of range of the strikes.
Zetto scores with a jab to the body.
Zetto lands a two punch combo.


It looks like Pono Reyes has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Reyes shoots in for a takedown but Zetto shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Reyes ducks right into an uppercut from Zetto.
Reyes tries to clinch but Zetto moves out of range.
Zetto cracks Reyes with a right hand to the side of the head.
Zetto keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Zetto misses with a left hand

and Reyes counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Zetto wants to stand and escape but Reyes is having none of it.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Zetto is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Reyes closes the distance and clinches up with Zetto, looking for a takedown. Reyes pushes Zetto against the cage but Zetto circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Reyes takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Zetto misses with a hook

and Reyes counters with a nice double leg into side control. Zetto won't be happy with that.
Reyes tries to stand but Zetto is controlling his head.

Zetto is not content to let Reyes control the position.

Reyes wants to stand but Zetto has his arm trapped.
Zetto manages to work his way to half guard, despite Reyes's best efforts.

Zetto gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Reyes.

Zetto's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Zetto connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Zetto throws a right hand that Reyes ducks under and follows up with a left that Reyes also avoids with ease.
Reyes slips a straight right by Zetto.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Reyes throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Zetto.
Zetto throws a good cross that connects.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Zetto connects with a crisp jab.
Zetto lands a nice leg kick that just misses Reyes's sensitive parts.
Reyes shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Zetto sprawls well. Zetto wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Reyes gets slowly back to his feet.
Zetto throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Reyes.
Zetto lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Zetto scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Zetto fails to land with a series of punches.
Zetto tests Reyes's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Zetto lands with an uppercut that bounces Reyes off the cage and back into range.

Zetto scores with a shot to the body.
Zetto throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Reyes sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Zetto swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Akuma Zetto is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A looping hook to the body misses from Zetto. Reyes does a little dance to reset his feet.
Akuma Zetto seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Reyes feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Reyes sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Zetto's guard.

Reyes is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Zetto has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Reyes is working away from the top position though.

Reyes looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Reyes postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Zetto to stand up.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Zetto looks to land a right hand but Reyes moved out of range.

Zetto scores with the left hand. Reyes knows he should have avoided that one.
Reyes takes a swing at Zetto's ribcage but misses.
Zetto misses with the combination.
Zetto misses with an uppercut

and Reyes counters by clinching up.
Reyes drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Zetto gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Zetto breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Pono Reyes is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A big left from Reyes misses.
Zetto misses the shot to the body.
Horrible takedown by Reyes or perhaps it was just good defense by Zetto which made him look bad.

Reyes shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Zetto is trying to defend but Reyes finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Akuma Zetto showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Reyes drops his hands momentarily and Zetto takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Zetto lands with a straight right. Reyes didn't see that one coming.
Zetto throws a shot from downtown. Reyes moves away and avoids it.
A head kick misses from Zetto.
Zetto displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Reyes.
Zetto thuds his right hand into Reyes's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Zetto looks to score with a jab to the body but Reyes is just out of range.
Zetto throws a head kick that Reyes semi-blocks.

Zetto tries to bum rush Reyes with a series of wild strikes but Reyes uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Reyes misses with a series of wild punches.
Zetto loads up on a big right hand but Reyes slips the punch.
Reyes ducks under a wild hook from Zetto.
Zetto swings away with a body shot that misses

and Reyes counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Reyes trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Zetto manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Reyes trying to hold on to Zetto's head to control him but Zetto postures up.
Zetto throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Zetto is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Zetto thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Reyes's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Zetto is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Zetto is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Zetto seems to be looking for submissions.
Zetto is trying to control the action in half guard but Reyes is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Zetto is thwarting Reyes's attempts to control the position.

Zetto has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Reyes defend it? Zetto steps over the head and cranks it - Reyes is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Zetto!
