PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dan Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ian Nolan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Williams kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Fly from the inside. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dan Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ian Nolan!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nolan throws a half hearted mid kick.
Nolan throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Williams fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Nolan avoids it really well and circles away.

Williams moves into the clinch.
Williams taking a breather.

Nolan drags the fight down to the ground.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Williams stands and steps away. Nolan gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Nolan pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Williams back to the cage. Nolan follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Nolan avoids a kick to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Williams misses with a looping right.
Nolan pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A left and a right from Nolan both land. Nice combination.

Nolan closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Williams is trying to maintain the position but Nolan is very close to passing his half guard.
Williams tries to roll over but Nolan keeps him under control.

Nolan is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Nolan wants to take a breather but Williams is having none of it.

Nolan is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Williams sees it coming and defends easily.
Nolan looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Williams with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Williams is trying to get back to full guard.
Williams on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Williams tries to get out of the position.
Nolan tries to pass to full mount but Williams defends it.
Nolan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Williams keeps working.
Nolan controlling the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Ian Nolan wasn't active enough on the ground.
Williams is looking to clinch.
Nolan shoots in for a double leg but Williams sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Nolan drives through with a takedown into Williams's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Williams is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Williams is breathing heavily.

Nolan gets to his feet. Williams looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Nolan throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Williams counters with a single leg into guard. Nolan didn't expect that.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Nolan is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Williams slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nolan controls Williams momentarily but Williams frees himself.
Williams wants to control from the top but Nolan keeps moving.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Nolan misses with a low kick.
Nolan misses with a few strikes there.
Jab, jab by Nolan - just one landing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nolan shoots in for a takedown but Williams shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Williams shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Nolan as he jumps to the side.
Williams tries to clinch there but Nolan circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ian Nolan dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Williams closes this distance looking for a takedown but Nolan circles away.
Nolan throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Nolan lands with a hook. Williams tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Nolan misses with a few strikes there.

Nolan feints and as Williams raises his hands in defense, Nolan changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Nolan stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Danga de danga de dang - Nolan scores with a four punch combination!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Nolan shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Nolan fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Nolan lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Williams at a distance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Nolan feints and as Williams raises his hands in defense, Nolan changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Williams escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nolan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Ian Nolan has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nolan slips nicely into half guard.
Nolan is nestled in close to Williams, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Williams has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nolan is working away from the top position though.

Nolan decides to stand and escape the position.
Nolan shoots in but Williams avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Nolan defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Williams.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nolan bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Williams's head.

Nolan closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Williams quickly recovers to half guard.
Williams wants to improve his position but Nolan is controlling well.

Nolan seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Williams is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Ian Nolan!
A relieved looking Ian Nolan thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
