PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joseph Beckwith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adi Wu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wu has chosen hadrcore as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Joseph Beckwith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Adi Wu!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Paul Tew and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wu moves away from the strike by Beckwith.

Beckwith has taken the fight to the clinch.
Beckwith can't break the clinch.
Beckwith tries to work over Wu's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Wu scores a nice knee to the body.

Beckwith drags the fight down to the ground.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Wu pushes down on Beckwith's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Wu content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Wu works his foot free and advances to mount.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Beckwith tries to buck Wu off but he can't manage it.

Wu with the ground and pound from mount.
Wu landing strikes from the mount.
Beckwith squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Wu sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Wu looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Wu content just to control the position here.

Beckwith really wants to buck Wu off and get back to his feet.
Wu looking to control and managing it successfully.
It looks like Wu might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Beckwith is trying to stand but he's just given Wu his back.
Wu really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Beckwith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Beckwith is breathing heavily.

Wu is persistently looking for the submission but Beckwith is defending it well.
Beckwith is trying to get back to his feet but Wu has full control of the position and if anything, Beckwith has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Wu has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wu punishes Beckwith with strikes from the back mount.

Wu has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Beckwith has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Beckwith shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Beckwith tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Wu has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Beckwith uses from the top position.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Wu is on top in guard.

Wu content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Beckwith uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Wu fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Beckwith has taken the fight to the clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Wu breaks from the clinch.
Wu is looking to clinch.

Beckwith clinches up against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Adi Wu will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Wu manages to pull guard.
Wu looking for a sweep. Not yet Wu, not yet.
Wu is wriggling around but Beckwith manages to pass to half guard.
Beckwith tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Wu trying to get back to full guard but Beckwith takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Wu takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Beckwith is standing up, even though he is in mount.

Beckwith lands the left hand.

Beckwith moves into the clinch.
Beckwith wants to break the clinch but can't.

Beckwith is trying to trip Wu. He has hold of a leg but Wu is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Beckwith persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Wu pushes Beckwith off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Beckwith walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Wu checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Beckwith misses with a wild combination.
Beckwith lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Wu circles away quickly and effectively.

Wu changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Beckwith tries to avoid it but Wu manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Beckwith to the ground. Beckwith escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Beckwith defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Wu.

Beckwith darts in and clinches Wu up against the cage.

Wu is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Beckwith has managed to free his arm - good work.
Wu prevents Beckwith from standing back up.

Beckwith is not content to let Wu control the position.
Beckwith wants to get back to his feet.
Wu lands strikes from half guard.
Wu tries to pass the half guard into mount. Beckwith knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Beckwith looks like he's trying to stand up.

Wu keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Wu lands with a punch from half guard.
Wu looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Beckwith is trying to stand up here but Wu is controlling him well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Joseph Beckwith has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Adi Wu is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Beckwith looking for subs from the bottom but Wu mounts him!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Joseph Beckwith.
I think Wu has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Adi Wu opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
