PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Taisto Sinisalo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Severn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sinisalo comes into the arena with Jos rakastat blaring out of the sound system. Dan Severn is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Taisto Sinisalo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dan Severn!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Severn is defended easily by Sinisalo.
Sinisalo tries to clinch but Severn is having none of it.
Severn tries for a takedown but Sinisalo sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Sinisalo throws a lazy uppercut

so Severn counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Severn looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Sinisalo wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Severn manages to pass to side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Severn controlling the pace.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Sinisalo wants to improve his position but Severn is controlling well.
Severn wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sinisalo keeps working.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Dan Severn was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Severn checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sinisalo lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Taisto Sinisalo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Severn shoots for a takedown but Sinisalo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Taisto Sinisalo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Severn.
Sinisalo missing with a left hand there. Severn was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Sinisalo looks to throw the jab but Severn is out of range.
Severn avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Sinisalo scores with a nice head shot.


That has opened up Dan Severn's cut even more.
Sinisalo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Severn paws at him with a jab and circles away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sinisalo throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Severn.
Severn fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sinisalo avoids it really well and circles away.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Severn shoots and misses
and Sinisalo counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Severn drops his hands momentarily and Sinisalo takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sinisalo keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Severn walks into a stiff left hand from Sinisalo.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Taisto Sinisalo dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Dan Severn's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Sinisalo throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Severn.
Severn with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Sinisalo to score with a decent uppercut.
Sinisalo scores with a sloppy right hand. Severn should have avoided that one.
Severn fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sinisalo avoids it really well and circles away.
Severn shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sinisalo pinned against the cage. Sinisalo gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Sinisalo misses with a body shot.
Severn shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Taisto Sinisalo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Severn.
Severn closes the distance and clinches up with Sinisalo, looking for a takedown. Severn pushes Sinisalo against the cage but Sinisalo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Severn shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sinisalo sprawls well. Sinisalo wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Severn gets slowly back to his feet.
Sinisalo lands a body shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sinisalo lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Severn on the wrong end of a nice hook.

Sinisalo has managed to clinch.
Sinisalo crunches a lovely knee into Severn's ribcage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sinisalo unloads a knee to the mid-section. Severn lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Severn is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sinisalo with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
A knee to the head by Sinisalo.


The cut above Dan Severn's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Sinisalo lands a damaging elbow.
Sinisalo holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Sinisalo gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.


Dan Severn's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Dan Severn's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Taisto Sinisalo!
Taisto Sinisalo seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
