PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bernardo Carpio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryo Ishizaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ishizaki is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Captain Tsubasa. Bernardo Carpio has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryo Ishizaki!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yuuki Gou and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carpio has his takedown stuffed

and Ishizaki counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Ishizaki prevents Carpio from improving his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Carpio is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ishizaki pulls his head out easily.

It looks like Ishizaki might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Ishizaki's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Ryo Ishizaki hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Ishizaki shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Carpio is refusing to be controlled, as Ishizaki sits in half guard.

Ishizaki seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Carpio does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Let's hope that Ishizaki has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Ishizaki bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Well Ishizaki has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
