PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shane Doby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Owain Glyndwr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Doby comes to the ring accompanied by International Players Anthem. Glyndwr has chosen Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau as his entrance music. The key to victory for Shane Doby has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shane Doby!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Owain Glyndwr!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Elvis Blanc and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Glyndwr fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Doby is out of range.
Doby changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Glyndwr tries to avoid it but Doby manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Glyndwr to the ground. Glyndwr escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A left and a right from Doby both land. Nice combination.
Glyndwr thows a body shot but no joy.
Doby misses with a takedown attempt - Glyndwr sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Glyndwr tries to close the distance and clinch up but Doby swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Doby blocks a head kick by Glyndwr.
Doby connects with a jab.
Glyndwr throws a front kick aimed at Doby's knee but Doby avoids it well.
Glyndwr tries for a takedown but Doby sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Glyndwr misses with a low kick.
Doby lands a jab-cross combination.
Glyndwr swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Doby moves out of range of the strikes.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Glyndwr enables Doby to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Glyndwr manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Doby might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Glyndwr working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Doby doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Doby manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Glyndwr is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Doby.

Doby keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Shane Doby seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Doby dives in and grabs Glyndwr's left leg, looking for a takedown. Glyndwr pushes down on Doby's head and hops out.

Glyndwr has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Doby to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Glyndwr is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Doby pulls down on the head and he's put Glyndwr to sleep! This one is all over!
