PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tex Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lester Murphy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peterson comes to the cage accompanied by Jedi Mind Tricks feat. Sean Price - Blood Runs Cold. Lester Murphy will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peterson throws a series of punches but Murphy moves out of range.
Peterson changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Peterson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Murphy sprawls well initially but Peterson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Peterson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Murphy's head.
Murphy tries to kick Peterson off but Peterson keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Peterson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Lester Murphy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Peterson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Peterson connects with a nice short shot to Murphy's temple.
Peterson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Peterson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Peterson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
