Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ikaro Dantas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Richmond (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James Richmond has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ikaro Dantas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Richmond!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Daniel Franklin and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richmond with a nice cross.
Dantas fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Dantas looks to land a combination but Richmond avoids it well.
Richmond throws a right hand that misses
and Dantas counters with a low kick, right behind Richmond 's knee.
Ikaro Dantas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dantas tries to move into range but Richmond moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
A big right from Dantas misses.
Dantas misses with a low kick.
Dantas takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Richmond is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Dantas.
Dantas connects with a nice looking jab.

Richmond throws the left hand but Dantas avoids the punch easily.

Dantas wants to take the fight to the mat but Richmond manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Dantas drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Richmond has Dantas pressed against the cage.
Richmond has had enough of the clinch but Dantas keeps him there for the moment.
Dantas tries to score a body lock takedown but Richmond shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

With the fighters up against the cage, Dantas throws an elbow but misses.
Dantas drops down looking for an ankle pick but Richmond pulls his leg out and moves away.
Richmond tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Dantas was well out of range. Poor timing from Richmond.
Dantas throws a nice looking combination but Richmond bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Dantas tries to land a front kick but Richmond steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Richmond throws an overhand right that lands on Dantas's shoulder, as Dantas tries to avoid the shot.

Dantas clinches.

Dantas works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Richmond has momentary wrist control but Dantas slips an elbow through the middle.
Richmond keeping moving, preventing Dantas from controlling successfully.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dantas seems to be working for a kimura but Richmond defends the submission attempt.

Dantas thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Richmond's head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dantas wants to control but Richmond is keeping him busy.
Dantas thows a huge punch but Richmond dodges it nicely.

Richmond doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Dantas throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
James Richmond seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Richmond uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Dantas.

Dantas explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Richmond thows a body shot but no joy.
James Richmond is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Richmond uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Dantas.
Dantas is looking to clinch but Richmond is avoiding it.

Richmond throws out a loose jab but Dantas uses good head movement to avoid it.
A punch lands to the side of Dantas 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Richmond connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.


Dantas is rocked!
Richmond is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Dantas flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Dantas is out cold! Richmond holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:13 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). James Richmond!
