PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Yang Leiden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesse Dardar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dardar has chosen Trial by Fire as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jesse Dardar!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Wesley Smith and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Leiden.
Dardar tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Leiden was well out of range. Poor timing from Dardar.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Leiden, as that shot connected.
Dardar throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Dardar lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

and Leiden counters with a thumping low kick.

Leiden is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Dardar stands and steps away. Leiden gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Oh Leiden is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Leiden seems to have got his legs back now.
Dardar throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Leiden.
Leiden gets cracked there but stands up to it.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Dardar is looking to stand but Dardar has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Dardar throws a one two combo.
The fighters circle momentarily. Leiden darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Leiden uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Dardar.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dardar is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Dardar is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Dardar sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Leiden trying to mount his opponent but Dardar defends it.
Leiden has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Dardar is in all sorts of trouble here.

Dardar is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Dardar is squirming around, avoiding Leiden's attempts to control the action.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dardar is controlling an arm, preventing Leiden from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Leiden does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

I would just about give that final round to Jesse Dardar.
I've got Dardar winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
