PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Bond (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Taiyo Machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Machida comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Machida War Song - Linkin Park kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Bond!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Taiyo Machida!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Damien Edna and Winston Howard.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Machida closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Machida working the strikes but Bond uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Bond is looking for a sweep. Machida is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Machida is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Bond manages to get to full guard.
Bond tries to land a sweep but no joy.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bond is on top in guard.

Machida pulls Bond in to control the position.
Bond could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Bond is looking to work some ground and pound but Machida has wrist control.
Bond pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Machida is keeping the position for now.
Machida pulls Bond in close to his closed guard and prevents Bond from doing any damage or advancing position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Taiyo Machida was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Machida shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Bond is trying to defend but Machida finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Machida is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Machida with the ground and pound but Bond uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Bond not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Machida is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bond is really struggling to control Machida but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Bond escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Machida gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Bond has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Machida off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
The fighters circle, before Machida throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Bond's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Machida lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick & Punches). Taiyo Machida!
Taiyo Machida spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a big arrogant.
