Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bongo Bongo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Powell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bongo comes to the ring accompanied by Bang Time. Powell has chosen Thndrkss 65 as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Robert Powell enters the ring!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 17 - 0, fighting out of London, Bongo Bongo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Robert Powell!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Steven Brown and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Powell lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bongo circles away quickly and effectively.
Bongo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Powell paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Bongo doesn't manage to clinch there - Powell circles away.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Bongo - that will leave a mark!
Bongo lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Powell throws a right and a left that Bongo avoids nicely.
Bongo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Powell swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Powell clinches with his opponent.

Bongo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bongo tries to land a front kick but Powell steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Powell misses with a double jab.
Powell looks gassed!
Powell throws out a loose jab but Bongo uses good head movement to avoid it.
Bongo throws a leg kick which misses Powell's front leg but catches the back leg as Powell tries to avoid it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Powell throws a lazy right hand but Bongo sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Bongo tries to clinch but Powell moves out of range.
Bongo is looking to clinch but Powell is avoiding it.
Bongo moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Bongo connects with a high kick.
Bongo fails in his attempt to clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Powell takes a kick to the side of the head.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Bongo prevents Powell from breaking the clinch.

Bongo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bongo tries to clinch but Powell is having none of it.
Bongo tries to close the distance and clinch but Powell swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Powell shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Bongo napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Powell wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bongo keeps working.
Powell connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Bongo some visible discomfort.
Powell tries to score with some ground and pound. Bongo controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Powell is chipping away with strikes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Powell wants to control but Bongo is keeping him busy.
Powell is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Bongo's shoulder. That is not cool.
Bongo is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Bongo is working to avoid the ground and pound but Powell connects with a decent elbow.

Powell connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Bongo some visible discomfort.
Bongo on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Powell remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Powell is looking to take a break and control but Bongo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Powell is putting a hurting on Bongo here, landing some big shots from side control.

Powell cracks Bongo with a big elbow.
Bongo avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Powell.

Powell is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Bongo has escaped the position, nice work there.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bongo takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Robert Powell will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.


Powell tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bongo sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Powell somewhat.
Bongo looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Bongo throws a front kick that sends Powell stumbling back into the ropes.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Powell pushes Bongo up against the ropes in a clinch.
Powell fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Powell on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Powell has Bongo pressed up against the ropes and is working for takedown. Bongo manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Bongo Bongo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robert Powell.

Bongo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Powell closes the distance and clinches.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Powell has a couple of punches blocked by Bongo.
A frustrated look appears on Bongo's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Bongo wants to break free but Powell has control.

Powell is looking for a takedown up against the ropes. Bongo gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Bongo is trying to maintain a safe position but Powell gets an underhook and turns Bongo into the ropes.
Bongo stops a takedown attempt from Powell.
Bongo landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Bongo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Powell misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Bongo.
Bongo tries to clinch but Powell moves out of range.
Bongo doesn't manage to clinch there - Powell circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Powell.
Powell thows a body shot but no joy.
Bongo scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Powell decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Powell slips a nice elbow through Bongo's hands, connecting with Bongo's forehead.
Bongo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Powell on the ground.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Powell thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bongo's head.
Bongo on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bongo tries to get out of the position.
Powell is trying to control the action in half guard but Bongo is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Powell looks to land a strike but Bongo avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Powell postures up in Bongo's guard and throws a big left but Bongo blocks it.
Powell throws an elbow that misses. Bongo uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Powell's guard. Nice move by Bongo!
Powell is trying to control the position but Bongo postures up.

Bongo would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Bongo trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Powell looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Robert Powell.
Powell misses with a leg kick.
Bongo leaves Powell with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Bongo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Powell paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Bongo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Bongo gets underhooks to prevent Powell's takedown attempt.
Powell tries to pull guard but Bongo holds him up against the ropes and eventually Powell drops back down to his feet.

Powell feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
