Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bekah Montoya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Demian Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bekah Montoya!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Demian Maia!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Summer Carpenter and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Montoya misses with a body kick.

Maia takes the fight into the clinch.

Maia jumps guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Maia looking for a guillotine here but Montoya defends easily.

Maia looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Maia keeping moving, preventing Montoya from controlling successfully.
Montoya has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Maia is proving hard to escape from.

Maia is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Montoya wants to control from the top but Maia keeps moving.
Montoya really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Maia looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Montoya gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Maia feints and as Montoya raises his hands in defense, Maia changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Montoya will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Maia stands up from Montoya's guard - Maia perhaps looking for a knockout.
Montoya shoots in looking for a takedown. Maia tries to sprawl out of it but Montoya keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Maia manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A slow jab from Montoya misses its intended target.

Maia closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Montoya did well to prevent Maia getting side control.
Maia prevents Montoya from standing back up.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Montoya is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Maia pulls his head out easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Montoya is looking to control Maia's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Montoya avoid being mounted?

Maia is working for a kimura but Montoya is defending it quite comfortably.
Montoya wants to control but Maia is keeping busy.

Maia has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Montoya defend it? Maia steps over the head and cranks it - Montoya is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Maia!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Demian Maia!
