Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mickey O Neil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carl Marks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). O Neil comes to the cage accompanied by I stomp your head. Marks has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Carl Marks has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are George Francis, Tiny Johnson and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
O Neil scores with a spinning back kick!
Marks looks gassed!

O Neil closes the distance and pushes Marks back into the cage.

O Neil turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Marks is trying to get back to half guard.
O Neil knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Marks on the ground.

O Neil tries for a kimura but Marks is defending well.
Marks wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.

O Neil is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Marks knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Marks is not content to let O Neil control the position.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with O Neil in particular looking to stall.

Marks is looking for a sweep. O Neil is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Marks enables O Neil to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Marks manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

O Neil goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Marks is on top in guard.

Marks gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Marks fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging O Neil to the ground. Marks is now in O Neil's guard.

Marks stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. O Neil swivels though and keeps the full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Marks accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Marks postures up in O Neil's guard and throws a big left but O Neil blocks it.

O Neil utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mickey O Neil is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Well O Neil has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
