Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Wanderlei Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julio Gutierrez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gutierrez is trying to defend but Silva finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Silva wants to take a breather but Gutierrez is having none of it.

Silva is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gutierrez is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Silva postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Gutierrez shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Silva defends it nicely.

Silva decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Silva is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Gutierrez to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.

Silva throws a strike but Gutierrez rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Gutierrez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gutierrez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Gutierrez has gone for a leg lock! Silva slips out almost immediately though and dives into Gutierrez's guard.

Silva fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Gutierrez, pushing him back against the cage.

Silva works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Gutierrez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Silva's guard.
