Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jan David (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matthew Murdock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). David comes to the cage accompanied by Pity the Man With the Fast Right Hand. Murdock has chosen Man Without Fear-Rob Zombie as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jan David!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matthew Murdock!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Wesley Smith and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
David throws a solid leg kick but Murdock takes the impact on his shin and smiles at David.
Murdock moves out of range as David strikes.

David looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

David thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Murdock not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

David drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and David jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Murdock has his foot on David's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. David works his way back into a safe position though.

You can see the frustration on Murdock's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

David tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no David has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

David is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Murdock knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Murdock is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on David's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
David works his foot free and advances to mount.
Murdock is desperately trying to improve his position but David has a good base and remains in mount.

David seems to be working for a kimura but Murdock defends the submission attempt.

Murdock is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but David pulls his head out easily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Murdock fails with an attempt to clinch.
Murdock fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and David has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Murdock tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Murdock avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Murdock throws a head kick that David semi-blocks.
Murdock fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt David.

Murdock tries a head kick but it misses.
Murdock scores with a push kick.
David tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Nice straight punches there by David. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of David.
David throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Murdock sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Excellent takedown into side control there by David.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Murdock is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

David is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Murdock is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Murdock regains half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Murdock is looking to improve his position.
Murdock is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
David uses his free foot to push down on Murdock's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Murdock.
David tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
David looking to control but Murdock is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Murdock is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Murdock wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

David is looking for the choke from the back position but Murdock is controlling his hands well.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Murdock won't enjoy being in this position. David looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Murdock is tapping - it's over boys! David picks up the submission victory!
