The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Washington punishes Figu's body with a nice straight punch.
Washington throws a head kick but Figu moves out of range.
Figu uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Washington.
Washington lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Nice body punch from Washington.
Washington fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Figu looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Washington.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Washington fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Marvin Washington seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Figu looks gassed!
Washington feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Figu's calf.
Washington goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

It looks like Sergiou Figu has been cut.
Washington lands with a kick to the temple. Figu shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Washington swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Figu.

Washington fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Washington throws a nice inside leg kick.
Washington fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Figu has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Washington cracks Figu with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Figu looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Washington finish him?
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Washington lands a big uppercut and Figu crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Figu looks OK. Washington waves Figu back to his feet!

Figu is rocked!
Washington fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Figu has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
A chopping leg kick lands by Washington.
Figu tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Washington jabs Figu to the body, keeping him at a distance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Washington is looking to slow Figu down with leg kicks.
Washington throws a series of strikes that have Figu backpedaling.

That has opened up Sergiou Figu's cut even more.
Figu stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Washington.
Washington connects with the punch.
Figu's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Washington. Figu shrugs it off though.
Washington steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Figu is out on his feet! Washington sets himself and nearly takes Figu's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!
