Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Barton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kerry Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ward has chosen People are strange by The Doors as his entrance music. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Barton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kerry Ward!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barton paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Ward lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Barton circles away quickly and effectively.
Ward lands with a right hand.
Barton swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Barton looks to score with a jab to the body but Ward is just out of range.
Barton throws a right and a left that both miss.
Barton scores with a spinning back kick!

Barton decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Barton not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Ward looks like he's trying to stand up.
Ward is looking to control Barton's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ward avoid being mounted?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ward's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Ward takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Barton manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Ward on his heels. He'll look to pass Ward's guard now, I'm sure.

Ward is trying to trip Barton. He has hold of a leg but Barton is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Ward persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Ward throws a strike but Barton rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Barton accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Ward working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Barton doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Barton manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Barton winds up and cracks Ward with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Ward avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Barton.

Barton looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ward with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ward wants to get back to his feet but Barton is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Barton slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Barton lands a nice short elbow.

Jack Barton showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Barton has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Jack Barton was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
