Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Larry Lightfoot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sam Peterson!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Robert Douchet and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lightfoot will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Peterson gets caught napping as Lightfoot dives in and scores a takedown. Peterson manages to retain guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Lightfoot trying to control but Peterson is working from the bottom.
Lightfoot has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Lightfoot tries to free his leg and advance position but Peterson is retaining full guard.
Peterson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Larry Lightfoot just wasn't active enough.

and Peterson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Peterson.
Lightfoot can't keep his opponent in guard - Peterson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Lightfoot is in trouble now - Peterson has advanced to mount!
Lightfoot tries to hold on but Peterson postures up.
Lightfoot might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Peterson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Lightfoot can't escape the position.
Lightfoot is trying to escape the mount but Peterson keeps good control and instead manages to take Lightfoot's back.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Let's hope that Peterson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Peterson is persistently looking for the submission but Lightfoot is defending it well.
What can Lightfoot do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Peterson gets his hands free as Lightfoot looks to control.

Peterson controlling the position well here. Lightfoot rolled but Peterson kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Larry Lightfoot seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lightfoot misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Peterson.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lightfoot has a takedown stuffed.
Peterson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lightfoot tries to avoid it but Peterson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lightfoot to the ground. Lightfoot escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Lightfoot gets caught napping as Peterson dives in and scores a takedown. Lightfoot manages to retain guard.
Peterson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Peterson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Lightfoot is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Peterson advances to half guard.
Lightfoot won't allow Peterson to pass to mount.
Peterson is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Lightfoot trying to hold on to Peterson's head to control him but Peterson postures up.
Peterson is taking a breather. Lightfoot says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Sam Peterson.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Lightfoot is looking to clinch but Peterson is avoiding it.
Lightfoot throws a series of punches but Peterson avoids them all with ease.
Lightfoot tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Lightfoot leaves Peterson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Lightfoot is trying to work for a sweep but Peterson has mounted him!

Peterson really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Lightfoot.

Lightfoot just trying to survive but Peterson is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Lightfoot is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Peterson is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Peterson is riding his opponent, not letting Lightfoot buck him off.

Peterson is persistently looking for the submission but Lightfoot is defending it well.
Lightfoot rolls, trying to escape but Peterson keeps control of the position.

Peterson slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
