Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alistar Overeem (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Hunt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Alistar Overeem!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mark Hunt!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Tarja Halkonen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Overeem scores with a nice strike.
Overeem fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hunt manages to avoid it.
A combination from Overeem does no damage.
Overeem misses with a few strikes there.
Hunt jabs at Overeem's body.
Hunt slips a jab and a cross from Overeem.
Hunt shoots in looking for a takedown but Overeem manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hunt's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Overeem fails to land with a series of punches.
Overeem keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Hunt moves into the clinch.
Overeem is trying to break free.
A bit of stalling here from Hunt.
Overeem is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Overeem wants to get back to striking at distance but Hunt won't allow it.
Overeem is looking to break free of the clinch but Hunt has double underhooks.
Hunt is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Overeem blocks an uppercut.

Hunt breaks the clinch.
Overeem connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Hunt's hands.
Hunt shoots in but no luck this time.
Alistar Overeem has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Hunt.
Hunt tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Overeem swivels and escapes.

Hunt shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Overeem napping and manages to drive through into side control!

It looks like Hunt might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Mark Hunt wasn't active enough on the ground.
Hunt tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Hunt throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Overeem throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Overeem will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Overeem throws a series of punches but Hunt avoids them all with ease.
A lazy left from Overeem finds it's target.
Overeem throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Hunt counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Overeem's guard now.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Overeem avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Hunt with a flurry of punches that miss.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Mark Hunt.
No joy there for Overeem, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Hunt has taken the fight to the clinch.
Overeem working hard to break the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Hunt dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Overeem misses with a combination

and Hunt counters by moving into the clinch.
Overeem wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Hunt has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Overeem is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Overeem tries to break free but Hunt pushes him back against the cage.

Hunt jumps into guard, dragging Overeem to the mat.
Hunt lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Overeem!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hunt throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Hunt controlling his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hunt is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Overeem to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Overeem shrugs it off.

Hunt looking to finish Overeem with some ground and pound. This is bad for Overeem!
Overeem knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hunt on the ground.

Overeem takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Overeem has given up his back. Will we see Hunt going for some submissions?
Hunt controls the action.

Hunt lands shots from the back.
Hunt has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Overeem's body.
Hunt's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Hunt showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Hunt closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Hunt wants to work for an arm triangle but Overeem is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Overeem tries to kick Hunt off but Hunt keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Hunt is looking for a kimura but Overeem is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hunt to get the leverage.

Hunt decides to stand up.
Alistar Overeem seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Overeem looks to land a combination but Hunt avoids it well.

Hunt rushes Overeem and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Hunt is working for takedown but Overeem is calmly controlling the position for now.
Hunt fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Hunt tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Overeem just stands there and leans against the cage.

Hunt jumps guard and drags Overeem to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hunt can do anything to dispel that myth.

Hunt looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Hunt lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Overeem!

Hunt quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Hunt but it's paid off an Overeem is forced to tap! Nice work by Hunt.
