Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Juan Gabriel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronald Hextall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Juan Gabriel has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Juan Gabriel seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ronald Hextall! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, John Roberts and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hextall is looking to clinch. Gabriel shoots for a double leg takedown but Hextall sprawls well. He's pushed Gabriel's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Gabriel shoots for a takedown but Hextall saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Gabriel keeps the fight on the outside. Hextall doesn't manage to clinch there - Gabriel circles away.

Nice straight punches there by Gabriel. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Gabriel. The fight stays on the outside here - Hextall looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Gabriel fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Gabriel fails with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Juan Gabriel. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gabriel swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Gabriel fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Hextall has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Gabriel fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Hextall stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Gabriel. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Gabriel throws a one two combo.

Gabriel gets control of Hextall's arms and successfully pulls guard. Gabriel will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Hextall trying to control but Gabriel is working from the bottom. Hextall is looking to stand up but Gabriel won't let him. Hextall throws a strike but Gabriel rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Gabriel stands up and waves to Hextall to follow him.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gabriel tries to break the clinch but Hextall is controlling the position. Hextall misses with an elbow over the top. Gabriel avoiding damage as Hextall throws knees to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Nice body punch from Gabriel. Hextall tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gabriel paws at him with a jab and circles away. Hextall clinches with his opponent.

Gabriel blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Gabriel blocks an elbow strike. Hextall throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Good anti-grappling being displayed by Gabriel as Hextall tries to tie him up. Hextall gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Gabriel dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Gabriel's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Gabriel lands a nice hook to Hextall's body. Hextall takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Hextall doesn't manage to clinch there - Gabriel circles away.

Ronald Hextall is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Hextall stuffs the takedown. Gabriel closes the distance and clinches. Gabriel is trying to break free. Gabriel takes an elbow to the forehead. Gabriel misses with an elbow over the top. Gabriel is trying to force a seperation but Hextall has the dominant position. Gabriel manages to pull guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hextall looking to sit in guard and control but Gabriel gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Hextall working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Gabriel has passed into half guard!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Juan Gabriel dominated that round. The cut man is working on Juan Gabriel's cut. That's time! Gabriel's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Hextall stuffs the takedown. Hextall is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Gabriel thuds his shin into the meat of Hextall's side. Hextall takes a kick to the side of the head. Juan Gabriel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hextall on the wrong end of a nice jab. Juan Gabriel is winning the standup battle so far. Hextall tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Gabriel manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Hextall doesn't manage to clinch there - Gabriel circles away.
Gabriel lands a really nice looking cross but Hextall seems unphased.
Gabriel swats away the attempt to clinch by Hextall. Gabriel slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Gabriel lunges at Hextall with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Hextall's hand. Hextall misses with a looping left. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gabriel looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Hextall! Hextall can't escape the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hextall is trying to reverse the position but instead Gabriel has taken his back - oops! Hextall tries to roll but Gabriel sticks to his back.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Hextall just trying to survive but Gabriel is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
That's two minutes gone in the round. I really don't envy Hextall right now.
Gabriel avoiding Hextall 's attempts to control his hands. Gabriel gets back to his feet - a bit of a stange decision given the position he was in. Hextall tries to clinch but Gabriel is having none of it. The fighters circling - Hextall throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Gabriel shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hextall as he jumps to the side.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gabriel misses with a body kick. Gabriel throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Hextall stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Hextall takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Hextall tries to close the distance and clinch but Gabriel swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Gabriel misses with a head kick.
Gabriel stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Hextall throws an off balance right hand
and Gabriel counters with a lovely straight right hand! Gabriel gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Hextall moves into the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Juan Gabriel. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gabriel avoiding damage as Hextall throws knees to the body.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hextall loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Hextall throws an elbow that misses. Gabriel uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hextall's guard. Nice move by Gabriel!

Gabriel decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Gabriel uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hextall.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Gabriel lands with a thumping leg kick.

Gabriel has had enough of the clinch but Hextall keeps him there for the moment. Hextall is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Gabriel decides to take the fight back to the feet. Hextall gets in close and instigates a clinch. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Gabriel jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hextall walks away with a smile on his face. Gabriel gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Juan Gabriel. That's going to take a lot out of him. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hextall is looking to clinch but Gabriel is avoiding it.
Gabriel lands a nice leg kick that just misses Hextall's sensitive parts. Ronald Hextall has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Juan Gabriel is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Hextall moves in looking to clinch but Gabriel pushes him off. Hextall misses with a hook to the body
and Gabriel counters with a good, hard body kick but Hextall shrugs it off.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Juan Gabriel. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gabriel, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
