Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Johny Hendricks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jaime Lener (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Hendricks might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The Way of the Fist. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Johny Hendricks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jaime Lener!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Jorge Garcia and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Hendricks. No joy for Lener on that attempt.
Hendricks throws a leg kick but Lener checks it.
Lener lands a nice hook to Hendricks's body. Hendricks takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Lener shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hendricks pinned against the cage. Hendricks gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Hendricks closes the distance and clinches up with Lener, looking for a takedown. Hendricks pushes Lener against the cage but Lener circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Hendricks blocks a low kick nicely.

Lener gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Hendricks pulls guard effortlessly.
Hendricks controls Lener momentarily but Lener frees himself.

Lener wants to control from the top but Hendricks keeps moving.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jaime Lener hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Lener lands with a straight right. Hendricks didn't see that one coming.
Hendricks shoots for a takedown but Lener saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Hendricks stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hendricks wants it to stay on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jaime Lener dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Hendricks shoots in for a double leg but Lener sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Lener is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Lener closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Lener fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hendricks, pushing him back against the cage.

Lener is trying to push Hendricks away but Hendricks has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Hendricks breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Lener has hold of one of Hendricks's legs. Hendricks is fighting the takedown attempt but Lener gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Horrible takedown by Lener or perhaps it was just good defense by Hendricks which made him look bad.

Hendricks wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Lener has him pressed against the cage.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lener lands with a hook. Hendricks tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Lener has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Hendricks uses from the top position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hendricks is trying hard to land a takedown here. Lener sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Lener lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Jaime Lener showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

and Lener cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Jaime Lener comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Lener has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
