Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mauricio Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sjonnie Shadow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mauricio Rua!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sjonnie Shadow!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Paulsen Ambrosius and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shadow tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rua sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Shadow somewhat.

Rua looking to score a takedown here. Shadow is defending well but Rua drives through and ends up in Shadow's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Rua thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Rua distracts Shadow with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Shadow trying to strike off his back.
Rua's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Rua postures up in Shadow's guard and throws a big left but Shadow blocks it.

Rua got a little sloppy there for a moment and Shadow has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rua has managed to get both his arms back between Shadow's legs - danger averted.

Shadow is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rua is aware though and is defending well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Rua avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Rua is working Shadow over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Shadow working for a triangle but Rua defends it easily.

Shadow working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Rua has passed into half guard!

Rua seems to be working for a kimura but Shadow defends the submission attempt.
Rua prevents Shadow from improving his position.
Shadow wants to get back to his feet.
Rua wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shadow keeps working.

Shadow is looking to improve his position.
Rua is trying to control the action in half guard but Shadow is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Rua looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Well, if Rua is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Mauricio Rua.

Rua scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Rua gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Rua moves in looking to clinch but Shadow pushes him off.

Rua shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Shadow is trying to defend but Rua finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Rua is keen to just control but Shadow is a slippery customer.
Rua has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shadow is trying to escape the mount.
Rua landing punches.
Shadow is in all sorts of trouble here.
Shadow bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Shadow has gone for a leg lock! Rua slips out almost immediately though and dives into Shadow's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Shadow escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rua gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Shadow wants to stand but Rua is controlling the position.
Rua controls from within his opponent's guard.
Rua is pushing down on Shadow's leg trying to pass to half guard. Shadow is fighting to maintain full guard but Rua has managed to sneak the leg through.
Shadow pushes Rua off looking to stand but Rua dives back in and keeps control.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Shadow manages to get to full guard.

Shadow is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rua is aware though and is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mauricio Rua dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Rua shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Rua trying to pass the guard but Shadow defending well.

Rua decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Rua is trying to control the action in half guard but Shadow is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Rua works his way into side control.
Shadow tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rua wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rua decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Shadow misses with a looping right.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Rua closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Shadow quickly recovers to half guard.
Shadow gets full guard.
Mauricio Rua overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Shadow keeping moving, preventing Rua from controlling successfully.
Shadow is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rua is controlling him.
Rua content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Rua is posturing up here but Shadow has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Rua tries to roll out but it's too tight and Rua has to tap! Slick submission there by Shadow!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Sjonnie Shadow!
