Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Boondock Saint!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hiroshi Nakamura!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nakamura feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Nakamura postures up.
Nakamura stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Saint swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Saint is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nakamura scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Nakamura content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Saint looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Saint has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Nakamura should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Saint has tightened it up now! Nakamura should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Boondock Saint!
Boondock Saint bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
