The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn tries to close the distance and clinch but Cruz swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Penn on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Cruz connects with a body shot that sends Penn's belly button to the back.
Cruz connects with a jab.
Cruz smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Cruz changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Nice straight punches there by Cruz. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Cruz.
No luck for Penn with that takedown attempt.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Penn tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cruz sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Penn somewhat.

Carlos Cruz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Georges Penn.
Cruz connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Penn tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Cruz lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Cruz dips to his left and cracks Penn with an uppercut!
Penn fails with an attempt to clinch.
Carlos Cruz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Penn takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Penn is rocked!
Penn is aggressively charging in as Cruz backs up avoiding any damage. Cruz tosses out a jab and Penn runs right into it face first! Penn is out cold! Cruz dropped down on all fours and is barking in Penn's face like a pit bull in celebration until the ref was finally able to pull him away!
