PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Elvis Peasly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Devon Goodman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Elvis Peasly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Devon Goodman!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Goodman shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Peasly is trying to escape the mount.
Goodman lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Peasly avoids a series of strikes thrown by Goodman.
Goodman cracks Peasly with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Goodman lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Goodman looking to control but Peasly is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
A nice elbow there by Goodman.

Goodman goes for an armbar but Peasly turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Peasly.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Peasly stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Goodman swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Peasly is working hard here to advance position.
Peasly wants to control from the top but Goodman keeps moving.
Peasly wants to pass the guard but Goodman is keeping the position.
Goodman preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Peasly is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Peasly has gone for a leg lock! Goodman slips out almost immediately though and dives into Peasly's guard.

Goodman got a little sloppy there for a moment and Peasly has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Goodman has managed to get both his arms back between Peasly's legs - danger averted.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Peasly manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Goodman manages to get himself to full guard.
Peasly prevents Goodman from getting back to his feet.

Goodman keeping full guard, as Peasly tries to pass.

Goodman wants to get back to his feet but Peasly is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Peasly is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Goodman controls Peasly momentarily but Peasly frees himself.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Goodman scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Goodman throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Goodman thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Goodman looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Goodman looks gassed!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Peasly tries to get to full guard but Goodman has control of the leg.
Goodman looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Peasly with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Peasly pushes Goodman off and gets back to his feet.
Peasly fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Goodman avoids it really well and circles away.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Goodman shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Devon Goodman dominated that round.

Goodman thows a huge punch but Peasly dodges it nicely.
Peasly wants to get back to his feet.
Goodman scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Devon Goodman has got the better of the ground game so far.
Goodman throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Peasly manages to get to full guard.

Goodman is sitting in close to Peasly's body. Peasly has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Goodman is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Goodman is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Peasly.
