PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Duran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby Lexus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duran's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Immortale Technique - Death March. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Bobby Lexus!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Donald Grub and Richard Clark.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lexus dives in and scores a takedown into Duran's guard.
Lexus trying to control the position from guard on top but Duran is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lexus trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Lexus really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Duran. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Lexus is working Duran over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Lexus throwing strikes from guard but Duran blocks nicely.
Lexus in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Lexus looking to sit in guard and control but Duran gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lexus is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Duran throws a big elbow that misses.

Lexus can't keep his opponent in guard - Duran advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Duran throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Duran is trying to control. Lexus wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Lexus flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Duran is trying to work for a kimura but Lexus is defending well.

Duran wants to pass the guard but Lexus is keeping the position.

Lexus pushes Duran off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Duran loads up on a big right hand but Lexus slips the punch.
Duran misses with a looping left.

Lexus darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Duran tries to roll over but Lexus keeps him under control.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Lexus connects with a nice short shot to Duran's temple.

Lexus looks to land a strike but Duran avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Lexus distracts Duran with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Lexus working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Lexus wants to control from the top but Duran keeps moving.

Lexus avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lexus postures up and lands a big shot to Duran's brow.
Duran can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Lexus controls the pace.
Duran is trying to keep Lexus in close.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lexus scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Lexus cracks Duran with a solid left hand.
Lexus postures up in Duran's guard and throws a big left but Duran blocks it.
Lexus missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Lexus throws an elbow that misses. Duran uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Lexus's guard. Nice move by Duran!

Duran drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Lexus dives on top into guard.
Lexus trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Bobby Lexus dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Lexus with a jab.
Duran stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Duran wants it to stay on the feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Lexus.
Lexus shoots for a takedown but Duran saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Mike Duran has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bobby Lexus.
Lexus drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

It looks like Bobby Lexus has been cut.
Lexus closes the distance and clinches up with Duran, looking for a takedown. Lexus pushes Duran against the cage but Duran circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Duran looks to land a left hand but Lexus moved out of range nicely.
Sloppy strikes from Duran. Those never looked like landing.
Duran throws a push kick but Lexus slaps the foot to one side.

Lexus dodges the punch combination from Duran.
Lexus ducks under a wild hook from Duran.
Duran changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lexus tries to avoid it but Duran manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lexus to the ground. Lexus escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Lexus shoots in for a double leg but Duran sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Duran takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Lexus fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Duran avoids it really well and circles away.

Duran gets tackled into the cage by Lexus. Lexus maintains the clinch.
A right hand to the body from Lexus.

Lexus gets underhooks to prevent Duran's takedown attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lexus has clasped his hands together around Duran's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Lexus is looking to take a break and control but Duran is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Lexus looks up at the clock and then as Duran takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Lexus smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Lexus has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lexus throws an elbow but Duran slips to the side and avoids it well.

Oh Duran is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Lexus lands a big elbow and you can see that really hurt Duran! Lexus senses the opportunity and scores with more strikes - he's put Duran out! The ref tackles him out of the way to prevent him landing more strikes - this one is all over!
