Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mikael Lindel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergey Kharinov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kharinov has chosen Metallica - For Whom The Bell Tolls as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Sergey Kharinov is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mikael Lindel!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sergey Kharinov!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Johanna Lukiainen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lindel looks to score with a jab to the body but Kharinov is just out of range.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Lindel is working Kharinov over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Kharinov has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lindel can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Kharinov misses the jab.
Lindel fails in his attempt to clinch.
Lindel swings for the body but Kharinov moves out of range.
Horrible takedown by Lindel or perhaps it was just good defense by Kharinov which made him look bad.
Lindel swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kharinov displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Lindel throws out the jab.
Kharinov circles away from the clinch attempt.
Lindel misses with a takedown attempt - Kharinov sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Lindel shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kharinov as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mikael Lindel. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kharinov looks to land a right hand but Lindel moved out of range.
Lindel fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kharinov avoids it really well and circles away.

Lindel jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kharinov walks away with a smile on his face. Lindel gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Lindel fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Lindel misses with a straight left.
Lindel takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kharinov enables Lindel to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kharinov manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Lindel postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kharinov can do anything to dispel that myth.

Kharinov has left one of his arms exposed and Lindel doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Kharinov screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
