Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jan Janssen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wanderlei Machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Janssen comes to the cage accompanied by DJ Madman - Meisje zo lelijk als de nacht . Machida has chosen Concrete Schoolyard as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machida scores with a jab to the head.
Janssen throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Janssen takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Janssen displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Machida throws out the jab.
Janssen works over Machida's head and body with a nice combination.
Machida takes a swing at Janssen's ribcage but misses.

Machida shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Janssen sprawls well. Janssen wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Machida gets slowly back to his feet.

Machida stalks Janssen and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Janssen's face. Janssen staggers backwards, shaken.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Machida is looking to work some ground and pound but Janssen has wrist control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That was a close round but I would say that Jan Janssen will probably get the nod.

Machida closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Machida has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
