Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Damian Boom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Nichols (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nichols has chosen Korn Get Up as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Bruno Lombardi and Joseph Jones.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boom moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Boom rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Nichols moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Nichols fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Boom throws a one two combo.
Nichols fails with a takedown attempt.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Nichols is defended easily by Boom.
Damian Boom has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robert Nichols.
Nichols tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Boom misses with a series of wild punches.
Nichols closes this distance looking for a takedown but Boom circles away.
A slow jab from Nichols misses its intended target.
Boom circles away from the clinch attempt.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Nichols is defended easily by Boom.

Horrible takedown by Nichols or perhaps it was just good defense by Boom which made him look bad.
Nichols looks gassed!
Boom shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Boom throws a right and a left that Nichols avoids nicely.
Nichols dodges the punch combination from Boom.
Boom lands a jab-cross combination.
Boom throws a right and a left that both miss.
Nichols tries to close the distance and clinch up but Boom swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Nichols shoots in but Boom avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Boom scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Boom misses with the combination.
Boom fails to land with a series of punches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nichols throws a half hearted mid kick.
Nichols blocks a leg kick.
Nichols tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Boom lands a jab to Nichols's midsection.
Nichols fails to land the takedown.
Boom fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Boom drives through and clinches with Nichols against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Boom wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Nichols has him pressed against the cage.

Boom escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Boom misses with a body kick.
Nichols shoots in but Boom avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Nichols takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Boom tries a head kick but it misses.
Boom really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Boom instigates a clinch.
Boom has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Nichols is trying to push Boom away but Boom has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Boom lands a right hand.
Boom trying to land knees to the body.
Nichols fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Boom breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nichols fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Boom goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Boom closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Boom moves nicely into side control.
Boom controlling the position.
Boom looks up at the clock and then as Nichols takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Boom smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nichols prevents Boom from improving position.
Boom is looking to take a break and control but Nichols is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Nichols is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Boom is controlling him well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A lull in the action here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Boom throws a right and a left that Nichols avoids nicely.
The fight stays on the outside here - Nichols looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Horrible takedown by Nichols or perhaps it was just good defense by Boom which made him look bad.
Nichols cracks Boom with a right hand to the side of the head.
Nichols shoots in and drives through. Boom sprawls well.
Boom lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Nichols backs up against the cage.

Nichols is rocked!

Boom closes the distance and pushes Nichols back into the cage.
Nichols is still on wobbly legs! Can Boom finish him?

Boom escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nichols get stunned by a cross and takes another one on the button. Nichols stumbles backwards and tries to bounce back off the cage but Boom runs in and jumps on him with a leaping lead hook that puts him out! Wow, that was highlight reel stuff! Awesome finish!
