Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mike Styles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyson Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tyson Jones!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones tries to clinch but Styles moves out of range.
Jones throws a leg kick but Styles sees it coming and moves out of range.
Nice takedown defense from Jones. No joy for Styles on that attempt.
Styles is looking to clinch but Jones is avoiding it.
Jones misses with an attempted mid kick.

Styles darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Jones has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Styles is working away from the top position though.
Styles seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Mike Styles just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Styles has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Jones is proving hard to escape from.

Styles is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Jones can't fight it off and eventually Styles manages to take the fight to the floor. Jones looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Jones working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Styles doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Styles manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Styles tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jones swivels and escapes.

Jones decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Jones stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Jones fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
An inside leg kick lands from Jones.

Styles moves into range and clinches up with Jones.
Jones tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Styles just stands there and leans against the cage.

Jones breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Jones shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Styles's guard.

Styles wants to stand and escape but Jones is having none of it.

Jones drops back looking for a leg! Styles is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Styles manages to kick Jones off! Jones jumps back into Styles's guard.

Styles has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Jones off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Jones throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Styles feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Tyson Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Mike Styles has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tyson Jones.
The fight stays on the outside here - Styles looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
