Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Renato Sobral (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mohammed Ali (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Renato Sobral!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mohammed Ali!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Edson Gomes and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ali has a takedown stuffed.
Ali is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Ali moves away from the strike by Sobral.
Ali stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ali is defended easily by Sobral.
Sobral doesn't manage to clinch there - Ali circles away.
Sobral avoids a punch combination nicely.
Sobral tries to clinch but Ali moves away
and Ali counters with a series of strikes. Sobral will be more careful next time no doubt.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A head kick misses from Sobral.

Sobral throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Ali counters with a left and a right that stings Sobral.
Sobral tries a head kick but it misses.
Sobral misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sobral stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sobral wants it to stay on the feet.
Renato Sobral has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mohammed Ali.
Ali shoots in and drives through. Sobral sprawls well.

Renato Sobral seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sobral rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Ali counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ali.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ali controls from within his opponent's guard.
Sobral might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mohammed Ali was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Ali closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sobral circles away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ali shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Sobral defends it nicely.
Ali slips a jab and a cross from Sobral.
A punch combination from Sobral misses.
Ali tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sobral sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ali somewhat.
Ali displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sobral throws out the jab.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sobral tries a head kick but it misses.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Ali.
Ali looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Ali rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sobral moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Ali closes the distance and clinches up with Sobral, looking for a takedown. Ali pushes Sobral against the cage but Sobral circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ali fails with a takedown attempt.
Ali lands with an overhand left.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mohammed Ali dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Sobral misses with a head kick.
Sobral throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Ali takes a kick to the side of the head.
Ali avoids the head kick by Sobral.
Sobral tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Ali shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sobral as he jumps to the side.

Ali gets the takedown into side control.

Ali looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ali controls the position.

Ali thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Sobral prevents Ali from improving position.
An elbow from Ali crashes against the mat.
Ali tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Ali is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ali tries to advance to mount but Sobral denies him.
Sobral defending against the ground and pound.
Sobral is pushing Ali's head away, looking to escape. Ali manages to hold on to the position though.
The referee asks Ali politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Ali prefers to stall for the moment though.

Ali working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Ali throwing strikes but missing, from side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sobral is trying to escape the position but Ali is controlling the position.

Ali goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Sobral rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Ali's guard! Nice work there by Sobral!
Sobral would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ali is on top in guard.
Ali postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Ali tries to free his leg and advance position but Sobral is retaining full guard.
Ali slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ali working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Sobral's head.
Sobral working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Ali.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ali works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Ali is trying to work for a kimura but Sobral is defending well.
Ali is controlling the pace.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ali thows a huge punch but Sobral dodges it nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mohammed Ali showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

so Ali counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Ali slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Ali sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Sobral's guard.
Ali looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Ali seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Ali has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Sobral defend it? Ali steps over the head and cranks it - Sobral is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Ali!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:25 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Mohammed Ali!
Mohammed Ali decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
