Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeremy Staton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ricardo Silva!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Silva lands in his opponent's guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Silva throwing strikes but missing.

Silva is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Silva seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Silva postures up and lands a big shot to Staton's brow.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva landing with the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silva in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Silva content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Staton is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Let's hope that Silva has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Ricardo Silva wasn't active enough on the ground.

Silva closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Silva has hold of Staton's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Staton tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Silva cranks the arm and Staton screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Staton, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:04 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Ricardo Silva!
