Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dave Davidson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Palmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davidson misses with the combination.
Palmer is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Palmer slips a jab from Davidson .

Palmer fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Davidson , pushing him back against the cage.

Davidson wants to get up but he can't break Palmer's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Palmer tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Palmer swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Palmer rushes Davidson and presses him up against the cage.
Palmer changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Davidson fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Davidson throws a right hand that Palmer ducks under and follows up with a left that Palmer also avoids with ease.
Davidson lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Palmer takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Palmer moves into the clinch.

Palmer breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Palmer closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Davidson to the mat! Davidson manages to get full guard.
Davidson wants to stand up but Palmer is controlling him.
Davidson trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Davidson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Tom Palmer wasn't active enough on the ground.
Davidson throws a big shot that misses.

Palmer slips under a jab from Davidson .
Palmer moves out of range as Davidson strikes.
Davidson moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Palmer misses with a takedown attempt - Davidson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Dave Davidson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tom Palmer.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Davidson tries to bum rush Palmer with a series of wild strikes but Palmer uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Palmer tries to score a power double leg takedown but Davidson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Palmer somewhat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Palmer shoots in for a takedown but Davidson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Davidson connects with a right hand. Palmer shakes it off.
