PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Derek Stoner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harvey Banger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Banger has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Harvey Banger is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Banger throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Banger looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Stoner fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Banger avoids it really well and circles away.
Banger swinging wildly here.
Banger defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Stoner.
Stoner shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Banger as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Derek Stoner. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Stoner throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Banger's waist but Banger gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Stoner off to one side.

Banger leaves Stoner with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Stoner throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Banger's waist but Banger gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Stoner off to one side.

Stoner fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Banger to the ground. Stoner is now in Banger's guard.
Stoner is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Banger throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Stoner not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Banger misses with a double jab
and Stoner counters with a one-two to the body.

Stoner pushes Banger up against the cage in a clinch.
Stoner scores with a shot to the side of Banger's head.

Stoner's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Banger fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Banger moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Stoner shoots in looking for a takedown. Banger tries to sprawl out of it but Stoner keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Banger manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Harvey Banger is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Banger digs a good hook to Stoner's body.
Horrible takedown by Stoner or perhaps it was just good defense by Banger which made him look bad.
Banger swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Stoner shoots for a double leg takedown but Banger sprawls well. He's pushed Stoner's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Banger swings for the body but Stoner moves out of range.
A swing and a miss from Banger.
No luck for Stoner with that takedown attempt.
Stoner avoids a punch combination nicely.

Banger gets tackled into the cage by Stoner. Stoner maintains the clinch.

Stoner pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Banger throws a left and a right that both miss

and Stoner counters with a nice double leg into side control. Banger won't be happy with that.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stoner avoids a punch combination nicely.

Stoner throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Banger was covering up waiting for the punch and Stoner finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Stoner stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Banger slaps away a takedown attempt from Stoner, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Stoner closes the distance and clinches.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Stoner has picked Banger up - he's going for a ride! Stoner dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Banger wants to stand back up but Stoner manages to pass into side control.

Stoner has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Banger is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Stoner yanks on the arm and Banger is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Stoner.
