PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Sahebt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jericho Swain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johnny Sahebt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jericho Swain!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Winston Howard and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Swain looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Swain jabs Sahebt right on the nose. Sahebt blinks but takes it well.

Sahebt throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Swain tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Sahebt is in Swain's guard.
Swain wants to stand and escape but Sahebt is having none of it.

Sahebt stands and steps away. Swain gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Sahebt feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Sahebt would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Swain is working an open guard so Sahebt takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
No luck for Sahebt with that takedown attempt.

Sloppy strikes from Swain. Those never looked like landing.
Swain tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sahebt was well out of range. Poor timing from Swain.

Swain just misses with a punch to the body.
Swain throws a right hand that Sahebt ducks under and follows up with a left that Sahebt also avoids with ease.

Sahebt drives through with a takedown into guard.
Sahebt is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Sahebt seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Swain for as long as he can get away with.

Sahebt's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Swain lets loose with a powerful body kick. Sahebt will feel that in the morning.
Swain throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Sahebt dodges the punch combination from Swain.
Jericho Swain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Sahebt takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Sahebt shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Swain as he avoids it easily.

Sahebt throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Swain was covering up waiting for the punch and Sahebt finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Sahebt stays in close to Swain's body and controls the position.

Swain is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Sahebt's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Sahebt won't allow Swain to sweep him here.

Swain manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Swain thows a body shot but no joy.

Sahebt is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Sahebt shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Sahebt was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Swain is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Swain tries to hold on but Sahebt pushes him away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sahebt takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Sahebt is trying hard to land a takedown here. Swain sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Nice straight punches there by Sahebt. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Sahebt.
Swain tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sahebt swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Sahebt knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Swain on the ground.

Sahebt looking to control but instead Swain has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Sahebt wants to advance to full mount but Swain doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Sahebt wants to control from the top but Swain keeps moving.

Sahebt looking to sit in guard and control but Swain gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Swain controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

We're going to have a standup here because Johnny Sahebt wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
A left lands for Swain.
Sahebt takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Swain listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Sahebt walks forward, straight into a front kick from Swain.

Swain uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Sahebt has time to react.
Sahebt throws a series of punches but Swain avoids them all with ease.

Swain tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Swain slaps away a takedown attempt from Sahebt, before circling back to the center of the mat.

I would just about give that final round to Jericho Swain.
