The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Popo is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Sonnen's half guard.
Sonnen is refusing to be controlled, as Popo sits in half guard.
Sonnen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Popo on the ground.
Sonnen keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Popo thows a huge punch but Sonnen dodges it nicely.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ground and pound from Popo seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Sonnen is looking to regain half guard here but Popo keeps moving and retains side control.
Popo postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Popo creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Sonnen sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Sonnen takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Popo lands a strong strike to the head of Sonnen. That's dazed him! Popo looking to finish here. Sonnen is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Popo lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
