PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between BJ Wood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rudell Crim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Crim has chosen Go To Sleep B1TCH! as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, BJ Wood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rudell Crim!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Johanna Lukiainen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wood displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Crim throws out the jab.
Crim gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Wood.
Wood looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Crim shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Wood pinned against the cage. Wood gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Crim connects with a nice looking jab.
Some bone on bone action there as Crim checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Wood attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Crim closes the distance and clinches up with Wood, looking for a takedown. Crim pushes Wood against the cage but Wood circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Wood throws a body punch but Crim moves out of range.

Crim looking to score a takedown here. Wood is defending well but Crim drives through and ends up in Wood's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Crim won't allow Wood to get back to his feet.
Wood keeping moving, preventing Crim from controlling successfully.
Wood wants to stand but Crim is controlling the position.
Wood utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Wood has momentary wrist control but Crim slips an elbow through the middle.
Wood has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Wood keeping moving, preventing Crim from controlling successfully.
Crim won't allow Wood to get back to his feet.
Crim showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Wood goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Nice cross by Crim.
The crowd cheers as Crim lands an impressive looking overhand right. Wood doesn't seem phased though.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A telegraphed right hand from Wood misses the target.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Crim checks a leg kick.
Wood displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Crim.
BJ Wood has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rudell Crim.
Crim shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Wood sprawls well. Wood wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Crim gets slowly back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wood throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Wood displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Crim.
Crim is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Wood.
Wood thows a left - swing and a miss!
Crim fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Wood avoids it really well and circles away.
Wood moves out of range of the strikes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Crim ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Wood moves away.

Crim closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Wood is trying to stand.
Wood tries to get to full guard but Crim has control of the leg.
Wood tries to kick Crim off but Crim keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wood trying to control but Crim postures up.
Crim looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Crim thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Wood's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rudell Crim dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


No luck for Crim with that takedown attempt.
Crim connects with the punch.
Crim walks forward, straight into a front kick from Wood.
Wood swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Wood throws a push kick but Crim slaps the foot to one side.

Crim closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Wood quickly recovers to half guard.
Wood is refusing to be controlled, as Crim sits in half guard.
Crim stops Wood from getting back to his feet.
Crim looks to land a strike but Wood avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Wood looking for a sweep. Not yet Wood, not yet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Crim connects with a couple of short punches.
Rudell Crim has got the better of the ground game so far.
Crim throws a big elbow that misses.
Wood is trying to control the position but Crim postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Crim trying to control but Wood is working from the bottom.
Wood is looking to stand up but Crim isn't so interested in that idea.
Crim trying to control the position from guard on top but Wood is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Wood trying to keep a closed guard but Crim is proving a slippery customer.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Crim avoids the body shot from Wood.
Crim fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Wood avoids it really well and circles away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Crim looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Wood is fending him off so far but Crim persists. Nope, Wood circles away and we're back to standing.
BJ Wood has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rudell Crim.
Wood shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Crim moves out of range of the body kick from Wood.
Wood leaves Crim with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Crim closes the distance and clinches up with Wood, looking for a takedown. Crim pushes Wood against the cage but Wood circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Crim connects with a body shot that sends Wood's belly button to the back.
Wood throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Crim misses with an uppercut. Wood saw that one coming.
Wood throws a body punch but Crim moves out of range.
Nice defenses there by Crim.
Wood takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Crim swings for the body but Wood moves out of range.
Wood misses with a wild body shot.
Crim tries for a takedown but Wood sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
BJ Wood has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Wood just misses with a punch to the body.
Wood scores with a nice body kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wood will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Wood is looking to wear down Crim with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Crim closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Wood did well to prevent Crim getting side control.
Crim prevents Wood from standing back up.
Wood is refusing to be controlled, as Crim sits in half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Crim not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Wood pushes Crim off looking to stand but Crim dives back in and keeps control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Wood trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Rudell Crim is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Well, if Crim is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Rudell Crim.
Well Crim has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
