The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Syrja keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Syrja really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Syrja tries to roll over but Johnson keeps him under control.

Syrja kicks off Johnson and gets to his feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Johnson.
Johnson fails to land the takedown.

Syrja gets the takedown into side control.
Johnson is breathing heavily.
Syrja tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Syrja trying to control the position but Johnson is working away.

Syrja tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

and Syrja counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Johnson!

Johnson is controlling an arm, preventing Syrja from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Syrja has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Johnson's face.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johnson is looking for a sweep. Syrja is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Johnson is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Syrja pulls his head out easily.
Syrja throwing shots but Johnson is blocking nicely.

Syrja lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Johnson is trying to get back to full guard.

Syrja wants to lay and pray for a moment but Johnson keeps working.
Johnson gets full guard.

Johnson is looking to sinch up a triangle. Syrja throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Johnson's body to avoid the submission. Johnson has instead reached around Syrja's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Johnson arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
