PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pugan Puganchich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hari Krishna (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Krishna comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Flaw - Whole kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Hari Krishna will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Pugan Puganchich!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Hari Krishna!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Aleksandr Martynov and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Krishna keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Puganchich misses with a takedown attempt

and Krishna counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Puganchich!
Puganchich tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Krishna throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
BOOM! Krishna connects with a massive shot to the dome!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Krishna with shots to the head and body - Puganchich looks very uncomfortable down there.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Krishna lands a nice shot to the head.
Krishna thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Puganchich avoids a strike by Krishna and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Krishna's guard! Fantastic escape!

Krishna has his feet on Puganchich's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

and Krishna counters with a single leg into guard. Puganchich didn't expect that.

Krishna is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Krishna must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Krishna accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Krishna makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Puganchich has his hands on Krishna's head, controlling the position.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Hari Krishna.

Krishna feints and as Puganchich raises his hands in defense, Krishna changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Puganchich can't keep his opponent in guard - Krishna advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Krishna lands with a nice combination. Puganchich backs away looking to recover.
Puganchich shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Krishna counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Krishna.
Puganchich has a closed guard, preventing Krishna from standing up.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Krishna can do anything to dispel that myth.

Puganchich stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Krishna looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Krishna is trying to control. Puganchich wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Puganchich gets back to full guard.
Puganchich is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Puganchich has momentary wrist control but Krishna slips an elbow through the middle.

Krishna closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Krishna lands in his opponent's guard.
Krishna would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Krishna wants to control from the top but Puganchich keeps moving.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Krishna accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Krishna fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Puganchich, pushing him back against the cage.
A left hand lands to the body for Krishna.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Puganchich tries to score a body lock takedown but Krishna shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Krishna scores with an uppercut up the middle.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Krishna jumps into guard, dragging Puganchich to the mat.
Krishna is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Krishna wants to sweep but no luck.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hari Krishna showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!


No luck for Puganchich with that takedown attempt.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Krishna.
Krishna tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Puganchich takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Puganchich's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Krishna in particular looking to stall.
Krishna misses with a head shot. Puganchich uses the momentum to regain guard.
Krishna tries to stand but Puganchich is controlling from the bottom.
Krishna with a flurry of punches that miss.

Krishna stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Puganchich has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Krishna manages to get his head free but now Puganchich has transitioned to an armbar! Krishna grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Puganchich! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Pugan Puganchich!
