PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hubert Parada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Caldwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Hubert Parada!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 14 - 0, fighting out of London, Jimmy Caldwell!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Andrew Berry and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Parada tries to score a power double leg takedown but Caldwell sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Parada somewhat.
Parada dives in and grabs Caldwell's left leg, looking for a takedown. Caldwell pushes down on Parada's head and hops out.
Parada misses with a takedown attempt
and Caldwell counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hubert Parada. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Caldwell looks to land a combination but Parada avoids it well.
Caldwell misses with a two punch combination.
Parada tries to clinch there but Caldwell circles away.
Parada tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Caldwell fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Parada sprawls well initially but Caldwell persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Parada is looking to control Caldwell's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Parada avoid being mounted?
Caldwell is looking to advance position but Parada won't allow it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Parada shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Parada rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Caldwell moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Caldwell looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Caldwell is working for a kimura but Parada is defending it quite comfortably.
Parada is not content to let Caldwell control the position.

Parada is looking to get back to full guard here but Caldwell has managed to pass to side control instead.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Caldwell is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Parada has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Parada!
Caldwell has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Parada trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Parada looking to sit in guard and control but Caldwell gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Parada is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Caldwell defends well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Parada looking to hit a scissor sweep but Caldwell is one step ahead there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Parada closes the distance looking to clinch

and Caldwell counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Caldwell misses with a body punch.
Parada drops down looking for an ankle pick but Caldwell pulls his leg out and moves away.
Parada tries to clinch up but Caldwell circles away and keeps his distance.
Caldwell avoids a kick to the body.
Parada walks into a straight right hand from Caldwell.
Caldwell scores with a hook to the body. Parada takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Parada shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Parada takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Parada has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Caldwell is working away from the top position though.
Caldwell seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Caldwell seems to be looking for submissions.
Caldwell wants to stand up but Parada is controlling the position.
Parada is trying to control but can't.
Parada wants to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Caldwell not doing much here.
Let's hope that Caldwell has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Caldwell is looking to clinch but Parada is avoiding it.

Jimmy Caldwell showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Parada tries to hold on but Caldwell pushes him away.

Parada is trying to escape the mount.

Poor strikes thrown by Caldwell there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Caldwell is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Parada wants to clinch.
Parada shoots in for a takedown but Caldwell shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Well Caldwell has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
