Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ray Philips (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Vaughn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Philips comes to the cage accompanied by Dance Hall Days. The crowd seem to be enjoying Vaughn's choice of entrance music: Walking Tall. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Vaughn!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Donk. Philips catches Vaughn right on the button with a cross.
Ray Philips seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Vaughn keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Vaughn defending well as Philips loads up on a big left hand.
Philips tries to work over Vaughn's front leg with a kick but Vaughn checks it.
Philips throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Vaughn misses with an uppercut.
Philips looks to land a left hand but Vaughn moved out of range nicely.
Philips misses with a body shot.
Philips scoring well with a low kick there.
Philips jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.


It looks like Chris Vaughn has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Philips avoids the head kick by Vaughn.
Vaughn rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Philips moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Vaughn fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Philips manages to avoid it.
A solid leg kick lands there for Philips.
Philips looks to score with a jab to the body but Vaughn is just out of range.
Philips rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Vaughn moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Philips. Vaughn does a little dance to reset his feet.
Vaughn tries to move into range but Philips moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Nice defenses there by Philips.
Vaughn throws the left hand but Philips avoids the punch easily.
Philips misses with a straight left.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Philips takes a swing at Vaughn's ribcage but misses.
Vaughn attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Philips misses with a double jab.
Philips scores with a leg kick.
Philips walks into a straight right hand from Vaughn.
Vaughn has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Vaughn there as he acknowledges the shot.
Philips stuns Vaughn with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Good leg kick by Philips there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Philips fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Vaughn has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Vaughn looks gassed!
Philips throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Vaughn on the side of the head.

Philips lands with a shot to the body.
Vaughn uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Philips.
Philips throws a nice inside leg kick.
Vaughn takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Philips fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Philips connects with a good right hand that stumbles Vaughn. Vaughn circles away out of range and recomposes himself.


That has opened up Chris Vaughn's cut even more.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Philips throws a series of punches but Vaughn moves out of range.

Philips drops Vaughn with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Vaughn looks back up at him and smiles so Philips waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Vaughn is rocked!
Philips is stalking Vaughn. Vaughn circles to his left. Keeps circling left. Bam! Straight right from Philips, and it's lights out! Vaughn really payed the price for that rookie mistake.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:13 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Ray Philips!
Ray Philips retains his heavyweight title!
