The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johanson tries to clinch but Russell moves out of range.
Johanson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Russell to score with a decent uppercut.
Johanson takes a jab right on the kisser.
Russell scores with a nice strike.
Nice uppercut there from Russell.
Russell tries to score with a low kick but Johanson moves his leg out of the way.
Shaun Russell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Johanson takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Johanson tries to clinch up but Russell circles away and keeps his distance.
Russell throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Johanson shoots in for a takedown but Russell shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Russell will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Russell throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Johanson on the side of the head.
Russell avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

The fight stays on the outside here - Johanson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Johanson on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Johanson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Russell pinned against the cage. Russell gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

and Russell cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Russell closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Russell pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Johanson tries to close the distance and clinch but Russell swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Russell stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Oh Johanson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Johanson tries to clinch
and Russell counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Johanson seems to have got his legs back now.
Russell scores with a decent looking hook.
Russell misses with a two punch combination.
Johanson is starting to get sloppy and is letting his hands down. Russell just took advantage and landed a stinging jab. Oh! Now a right hook, right on the button! Johanson has gone limp and this one is over!

After winning the bout, Shaun Russell thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
