PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ricardo Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hammy Carlin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ricardo Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hammy Carlin!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Carlin tries to score a power double leg takedown but Silva sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Carlin somewhat.
Carlin shoots in looking for a takedown. Silva tries to sprawl out of it but Carlin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Silva manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Carlin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Silva tries to avoid it but Carlin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Silva to the ground. Silva escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ricardo Silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hammy Carlin.

Silva tries to keep at a distance but Carlin has taken the fight into the clinch.

Silva drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Silva jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Silva is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Carlin trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Silva drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Carlin manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Silva has Carlin in his guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ricardo Silva.

and Silva counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Silva drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Carlin gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Silva tries to score a body lock takedown but Carlin shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Silva has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Carlin is trying to keep an underhook but Silva manages to get the takedown into half guard.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Carlin pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
A chopping leg kick lands by Carlin.

Carlin rushes Silva and presses him up against the cage.

Carlin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Carlin shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Silva but Silva pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Carlin shoots for a double leg takedown but Silva sprawls well. He's pushed Carlin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Silva shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Carlin but Carlin pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Silva stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Silva wants it to stay on the feet.

Carlin is trying to drag Silva to the mat but Silva just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Carlin jumps guard and drags Silva to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Silva is stalling in the full guard.

Silva has gone for a leg lock! Carlin slips out almost immediately though and dives into Silva's guard.

Hammy Carlin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Carlin shoots in for a takedown but Silva shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

No joy there for Carlin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Carlin fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Silva avoids it really well and circles away.

Silva misses with a takedown attempt - Carlin sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Silva is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Carlin sees it coming and defends easily.

Carlin defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Silva.
Silva is looking to work his way around to Carlin's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
Carlin tries to hold on but Silva postures up.

Silva goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Carlin turns into him and now he's in Silva's guard.
