The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sonnen avoids the body shot from Ping.
Ping looks gassed!
Sonnen bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Sonnen connects with a crisp jab.
Ping takes a jab right on the kisser.
Ping takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Sonnen connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Good standup being displayed there by Sonnen as he connects with a hook.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sonnen scores with a sloppy right hand. Ping should have avoided that one.
Sonnen fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Ping to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Ping looks to clinch but Sonnen throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Ping taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!

Fail Sonnen was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
