PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chris Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Les Brocknar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rogers kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Warning. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Les Brocknar!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rogers fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Rogers fails with an attempt to clinch.
Rogers looks to land a combination but Brocknar avoids it well.

Brocknar closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Rogers is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Rogers is trying to control Brocknar's posture but Brocknar avoids it.
Rogers wants to get back to his feet.
You can see the frustration on Rogers's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Rogers manages to get back to half guard.
Brocknar throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Brocknar is keen to just control but Rogers is a slippery customer.
Brocknar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rogers. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Brocknar drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Brocknar pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rogers is keeping the position for now.
Brocknar is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Rogers is trying to control the position but Brocknar postures up.
Brocknar's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Brocknar wanted to stand there but Rogers had control of the position.

Rogers had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Brocknar defends it easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Brocknar tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rogers swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Rogers throws a right and a left that Brocknar avoids nicely.
Rogers lands a two punch combo.
Brocknar is looking to clinch.
Brocknar fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Rogers keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

and Brocknar counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Rogers!
Rogers is breathing heavily.
Brocknar can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rogers is looking to escape.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Brocknar is trying to control here but Rogers has managed to regain half guard.

Brocknar not doing much here.
Brocknar working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Brocknar not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Brocknar is keen to just control but Rogers is a slippery customer.
Rogers has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Brocknar is working away from the top position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Les Brocknar dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Rogers clobbers Brocknar with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Rogers displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Brocknar.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Brocknar tries to pull guard but Rogers forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Chris Rogers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Les Brocknar.
Rogers wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Brocknar has him pressed against the cage.
Brocknar is trying to break the clinch but Rogers is controlling him.
Brocknar fails to pull guard.
Brocknar is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Rogers is defending well.
Brocknar is looking to take this one to the mat.
Rogers lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Brocknar or not.

Brocknar drops down looking for an ankle pick but Rogers pulls his leg out and moves away.
Brocknar is breathing heavily.
Rogers turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Rogers drops Brocknar with a beautiful combination! Brocknar stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Rogers is looking for the KO!


It looks like Les Brocknar has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rogers dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Chris Rogers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rogers tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Rogers is pawing at Brocknar, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Brocknar's nose. Brocknar is badly hurt! Rogers pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Brocknar tries desperately to hold on but Rogers is relentless in his assault! As Brocknar receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Rogers away and this one is in the books!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chris Rogers!
As Chris Rogers got his breath back, he grabbed the microphone and managed to blurt out the following: Drinks on me.'.
