Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rodolfo Gusman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phillip Barron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gusman comes into the arena with La sonora santanera - El santo, el cavernario blaring out of the sound system. Barron is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Dizzee Rascal - Bonkers. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 13 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Phillip Barron!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Vladimir Khabensky and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gusman scores with a shot to the body.
Gusman thows a leg kick but Barron checks it

and Barron counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Gusman!

Gusman is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

Gusman pivots, looking for a leg kick but Barron is out of range and Gusman settles back down.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Gusman looks to land a left hand but Barron moved out of range nicely.
A telegraphed right hand from Barron misses the target.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gusman throws a jab when Barron was well out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Rodolfo Gusman will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Barron jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Barron throws a big shot that misses.
Barron throws out a loose jab but Gusman uses good head movement to avoid it.
Gusman fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Barron manages to avoid it.
Gusman throws the left hand but Barron avoids the punch easily.
Barron shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gusman as he avoids it easily.
Gusman cracks Barron with a good jab.
Barron will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Gusman blocks a jab.
Gusman missing with a left hand there. Barron was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Gusman dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Barron checks a low kick from Gusman.
Nice shot lands for Gusman.
Barron throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Barron shoots in for a double leg but Gusman sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Gusman tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Barron swivels and escapes.

Barron closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Gusman takes a knee right on the jaw!

Barron is looking to take this one to the mat.
Rodolfo Gusman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Phillip Barron.

Barron has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Gusman's face.

Gusman is squirming around, avoiding Barron's attempts to control the action.

Barron looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Gusman is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Barron scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Gusman is trying to stand up.
Barron is landing with some decent strikes but Gusman is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Gusman trying desperately to get to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Gusman is in a horrible position here. Barron smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Barron unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Gusman wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Barron celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
