PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jared Greene (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roberto Cesar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cesar comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Roller kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jared Greene!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roberto Cesar!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Daniel Cesar and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Greene tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Cesar manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Cesar circles away from the clinch attempt.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cesar.

Greene forces Cesar back against the cage and clinches.
Cesar is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Greene fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Cesar has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Greene avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Cesar is pressed up against the cage. Greene has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Cesar down to the mat. Cesar avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Cesar tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Cesar takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Cesar's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Roberto Cesar hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Greene tries to clinch up but Cesar circles away and keeps his distance.

Nice sprawl there from Greene as Cesar shoots in.
Jared Greene has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roberto Cesar.
Greene connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Cesar feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Cesar seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Greene is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Greene throws a front kick aimed at Cesar's knee but Cesar avoids it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Greene buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Greene will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Cesar avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Cesar throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Greene tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Cesar is in Greene's guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Cesar shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Cesar fails to land the takedown.

Cesar fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Greene avoids it really well and circles away.

Greene is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Cesar is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Greene pulls him back up using the underhooks.
