Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Mauricio Rocha and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendes shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Machida is trying to stand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mendes controlling the action here.
It looks like Mendes might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Mendes stops Machida from getting back to his feet.

Mendes is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Machida pushes Mendes off looking to stand but Mendes dives back in and keeps control.
Well, if Mendes is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Rafael Mendes wasn't active enough on the ground.
Mendes clinches up with Machida and pushes him back against the cage.
Machida wants a takedown but no success here.

Mendes changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Machida fights it off and pushes away nicely.

and Mendes holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Mendes tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Machida just stands there and leans against the cage.

Mendes tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Machida avoids it.

Machida pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Mendes avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Machida tries to sprawl but Mendes drives through with a takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mendes is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Machida tries to kick Mendes off but Mendes keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Machida wants to stand back up but Mendes manages to pass into side control.
Machida is breathing heavily.
Machida is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Mendes has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Mendes has hold of Machida's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Machida seems comfortable defending it but Mendes has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Machida is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Machida is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Mendes couldn't care less - he's delighted!
