PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Niko Tresh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thorfinn Oden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Oden has chosen Element Eighty-Pancake Land as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Niko Tresh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Thorfinn Oden!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Tiny Johnson and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tresh swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Oden.

Tresh closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Oden's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Oden is on top in guard.
Tresh is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Tresh is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Oden sees it coming and defends easily.
Tresh is keen to just control but Oden is a slippery customer.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Tresh prevents Oden from standing back up.

Tresh escapes and gets back to his feet.
Oden chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Tresh's jab looks to have found its range, popping Oden under the eye.
Tresh avoids a punch combination nicely.
Tresh throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Oden.
Oden misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Tresh.
Tresh is trying hard to land a takedown here. Oden sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Oden tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Tresh is able to avoid easily.
Tresh has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Oden.
Tresh throws a series of punches but Oden avoids them all with ease.

Oden throws a strike aimed at the side of Tresh's head but Tresh avoids it well.
Tresh struggling a bit here.
Tresh takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Tresh is not content to let Oden control the position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Oden is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Tresh has escaped the position, nice work there.

Oden drops back looking for a leg! Tresh is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Tresh manages to kick Oden off! Oden jumps back into Tresh's guard.

Oden throws a big right hand that misses.
Oden has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Oden drops back looking for a leg! Tresh is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Tresh manages to kick Oden off! Oden jumps back into Tresh's guard.

Oden is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Oden forces his way into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Oden wants to take a breather but Tresh is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Thorfinn Oden dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Niko Tresh's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Tresh tries to work over Oden's front leg with a kick but Oden checks it.
Oden connects with an inside leg kick.
A nice leg kick lands there from Oden.
Oden does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Oden throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Oden throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Tresh was covering up waiting for the punch and Oden finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Tresh is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Oden is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Tresh is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Oden is aware though and is defending well.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Oden sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Tresh's guard.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Oden. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Tresh has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Oden is working away from the top position though.

Tresh is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Oden pulls his head out easily.
Oden works his foot free and advances to mount.

Oden working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Tresh turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Oden off and cradles Tresh's limp body as Oden celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Thorfinn Oden!
Jumping up and down and very excited, Thorfinn Oden waved his t-shirt featuring Springfield HW Nutrition's logo in front of the cameras.
